The school bully vs. the A-student | Short Film

 In the opening scene through cinematography we can clealy see who is being bullied from the group of the boys perspective we can see him being looked down on. This implies hes not in power and that becuase the bully is beibg looked up at the blonde is in major control and has power. Through mise-en-scene the clothing we see isnt uniform. This suggests that it is set in america because usually they dont wear uniform. The close up of the bully coming down to his level shows and is a metaohor that the bully is on a completely differnet level and has to crouch to talk to him. This seems very intimidating.

Through mise-en-scene like the hair styles suggest 2010. The hair cut the bully has is very like justin beibers in 2010 and justin beiber was a major popstar inspiring people to get his hair as a style.

 

 

 

Idea generation-I was inspired from the other student made films and project X majorly.

Final plot- Its a circular narrative film .In the opening scene its about two boys who did something very wrong and being questioned and watching back what they did on the tv that the audience can see. The boys begin to wonder how Mr Wilkin knew but in fact it was because of Jacobs golden unique watch wasnt covered on the school cameras. In the opening scene we dont get any shots of what they are actually doing on the tv. This is to make the audience question what is so bad that they got called in early for. This also builds up tension making the audience want to watch more to find out. After the opening scene it flashes back to where it all began and what they were planning on doing which was so bad which then tells the audience what they did. Both the boys went into the school very late at night and stole a lot of the electronics and tried to sell them online. Before they get the chance to sell anything they are called into school very early in the morning and the beginning opening scene is played out again in the end and we found out what happens to both the boys.

Casting justification- Because of COVID19 restrictions i had to use relatives who I knew would fit the part but also be comfortable on camera. Mr Wilkinson also has a lot of experience acting and did drama in his high school.

Location- Wymondham high school, in the early morning around 5am, class rooms ,headteachers office

Reasoning for the school is because its a teen movie and its at 5am for the audience to question why they are there so early. In the morning its also a lot easier to film and because they have been called in early for something they did. I am also a student of Wymondham high as well which makes it much easier to access things I need and to know he good places to film(which places will have the best lighting).

Character profiles- Them being 16 makes it believable that they should be in a school making it seem more realistic. Dan is being casted as the head teacher and because he is 41 it fits well so that he is not only wise but is understanding with kids.

Props list- phones, books, ruler walkie talky and a tv

Costume list- Wymondham high school uniform for the two teens and black scruffy jeans with holes in a suit and tie for Dan.

Reasoning- the school uniform is to keep the realism and to imply its a teen movie and the reasoning for the head teacher  wearing half scrufffy and smart is to give off the impression that he doesn't care very much about his teaching but cares enough to atleast put a little bit of effort in. This is because in his role he is a very relaxed teacher who is very much like a boy in a mans body.

LOOKING DOWN SHOT ON THE BOYS Mr Wilkin-"We will see wont we" 

CLOSE UP ON NECK Dom-Gulps 

CLOSE UP ON REMOTE Mr wilkin-plays a tape of footage taken from a camera on school site and proceeds to play it to the boys

SHOULDER LOOK OVER SHOT Dom- "but how did you know it was us"

CLOSE UP ON WRIST Mr Wilkin- "His wrist?, take a look and think"

WIDE SHOT Jacob and Dom- Fidgeting and shaking 

CLOSE UP Jacob- "whats going to happen to us?"

DOWN ENGLE ONTO THE BOYS Mr Wilkin- "Your lucky im layed back otherwise straight to the police but for now we will just have to wait and see"

CLOSE UP Jacob and Dom- smurk smugly
